WEB BOOKMARK SEARCH  (Top)

(Note: Images used on this page may be an older version of this tool.)

Your WEB Browser creates very useful bookmark files where users either add a BOOKMARK or favorite URL of sites they want to remember for future access. Once this bookmark file reaches more than 100 entries, it becomes very time consuming to find a particular Web Address. To make the bookmark files orderly, users may have to spend a lot of time ordering bookmarks according to categories or folders. But what if a folder has 500 entries? The task then becomes tedious.

Fortunately, most bookmarks have decriptive text associated with the URL address. With Ferret32, bookmark files even of millions lines are searched in seconds for any matching criteria. The drudgery of sorting things by category or alphabetically is not necessary and a total waste of time.

How to make it happen. First point to your bookmark file. This file for NETSCAPE is BOOKMARK.HTM and is in a subdirectory under NETSCAPE. Once the SOURCE_FILE points to a file having a HTM file extension, then FERRET is enabled for BROWSING HTML BOOKMARKS. Triple clicking a http phrase will select the whole line. Clicking on RUN will launch the browser to that http address. It will be necessary to SETUP your path to your Web Browser. Use OPTIONS menu to define the Web Browser.

A bookmark file for Internet Explorer must be first created using the Export command under the Internet Explorer File Menu. This will create a list of searchable bookmarks from your Favorites. Save the file in a data directory as a HTM file. The next step is to assign it to one of the Ferret32 File buttons using the Drag/Drop method.
