PRINTER SETUP(Top)
Use Windows Print Manager (Win NT) to Setup Page for Print.
Ferret32 has limited print capability.
- Under the START MENU, select Settings and then the PRINTERS Folder
- Click the printer you are using.
- On the File menu, click Document Defaults.
- Click each tab to see all of the options, and make your changes.
Notes:
- Changing the printer properties in the Printers folder will change the default settings for all documents you print on this printer. To change these settings for one document, click Page Setup or Print Setup on the File menu in your program.
- You can change printer settings only if you have Full Control access permissions. Members of the Administrators, Server Operators, Print Operators, or Power Users group have Full Control permission by default.
- Fancy Formats and Fonts for printing have been deferred as Ferret can send either its search windows results or the file created from the last search to Microsoft WORD. See file menu(below)

To change which program starts when you open a file.
- In My Computer or Windows NT Explorer, click the View menu, and then click Options.
- Click the File Types tab.
- In the list of file types, click NEW TYPE.
The settings for that file type are shown in the File Type Details box. (IF IT ALREADY EXISTS)
- Enter the new Description of Type as: FERRET SOURCE FILE
Enter the new Associated Extensions as: .fer
The new Content Type (MIME): Leave this empty.
- Now we need to select an action. On this same page, there is another NEW BUTTON. Click on it and another window come up title "NEW ACTION". Click on Browse and either find a shortcut to ferret or find the actual program. After browsing and opening ferret32 (or a shortcut to it), then the window entitled: "Application Used to Perform Action" should have the program ferret as in C:\ferret\Ferret32.exe.
In the Action window type OPEN
- Click OK
- Click Close.
